Foreshore launches DDoS Attack Mitigation Service
10 January 2005
Foreshore has launched its attack mitigation service in response to the growing threat to commercial websites of this type of malicious activity. This service is now available to all Foreshore’s IP customers.
Andrew Jarrett, Foreshore’s sales director, explains "At one time the main targets for this sort of attack were gambling companies, however more recently the websites of some high profile payment providers and retailers have been taken off air. The problem websites face when being attacked by tens of thousands of PCs is their inability to cope with the resulting flood of traffic which overloads firewalls and upstream links and takes the site off air. Our DDoS attack mitigation service uses a sophisticated multi-verification process to filter out all but legitimate traffic to our customers’ websites which, when using this service are able to operate as normal even under a sustained attack."
